OBSERVATION:
The school campus is an environment-friendly campus because it has lot of trees and plants, even the halls has different flowers, some are being hanged, and some are being putted in the side of hallways. Furthermore, the school has its vegetable garden that full of green leafy colors. The buildings are well constructed and have a strong foundation.
When I walked by the offices, I formed a smile in my face and being speechless because of the clean and neat classrooms. The library is good enough to be studied and help the students to have educational materials. It has book selves that full of books. They also have lots of facilities: television, sound systems, speakers, electric fans, ceiling fans, book selves (full of books), trash cans, and projector. In the cafeteria, I saw lot of foods, mostly are biscuits and some are junk foods then also breads, cookies, and etc.

MY OBSERVATION:
Name of the School Observed: Iligan City Central School
Location of the School: Tubod Mahayahay, Iligan City
Date of Visit: November 24, 2016

I observed a proper, well designation and communication among teachers and students/children. A school is a community observed location, the classrooms, comfort rooms, and a laboratory is very great.

YOUR ANALYSIS
1.    The classroom is good because it surrounded with many plants (hanging orchids and many more) and it helps the atmosphere or area to be in good condition, added with electric fans and ceiling fans to help them not to feel the heat of the sun and the outside disturbances. In conclusion, they could focus and cannot be disturb by the noises and heat.
2.    Upon observation, it helps a lot in terms of understanding a specific attitudes and characteristics of a child, and analyzing why they act like this and that and so on. Also, because of this observation it helps me create a better way of practicing learning for the children.

YOUR REFLECTIONS
1.    Yes, I loved to, I would gladly teach in the school environment that I’ve observed because the classroom is well conditioned lots of materials for learning and the atmosphere also is very good because of the trees and other plants surrounded the school.
2.    The kind of school campus that is conducive to learning is an environment friendly campus because the nature and environment plays a great role in the learning processes of students/children.
3.    The kind of classroom that is conducive to learning is an interactive and conditioned classroom because I believed that any discussion can be successful when the environment is conditioned and when everyone will collaborate and interact in any classroom discussion.
4.    Well, in the future, I would accomplish an interactive and collaborative classroom that everyone would participate in any discussion by ways and means of creating activities that everyone could relate to, and understand wholly. From reading by doing through learning.
5.    My observation helps me mold my patience and build my self-esteem and most of all the control of my temper in terms of dealing with children.

EPISODE 2: Learner’s Characteristics and Needs

YOUR ANALYSIS

YOUR REFLECTIONS

1.    While observing the learners, I did recall my own experiences and realizes that I’ve been there, there is one kid, I was observing, he is smart and intelligent but the thing is that he is very shy, he behave just like me before, when he listens to the discussion, he is very attentive and focused on what the teacher would tell. Our similarities is that when he act in classroom upon learning (listen, talk and observed) is that he is molded with too much curiosity but he talks rarely.
2.    She helps me in terms of physical, social and cognitive needs because she is our MAPEH Teacher that is very good in dealing and adjusting temper when a student/child misbehaves. Physically she help me, in terms of helping me balance my diet, exercise and exact amount of water to intake, food to eat and body control.
3.    My favorite theory of development is the Erik Erickson’s Psycho-social Theory of Development because it guides me in understanding the behavior of a child in socializing and involving in the classroom discussion. Why, how and what are the reasons/factors, why they act a certain behavior in a classroom or in a society.
4.    Anyone has the different characteristics that need manifestations and adjustments to be understood in order to make good communication throughout the discussion.

EPISODE 3: Classroom Management and Learning
OBSERVATION:

As I observed in the class, everyone possess different characteristics and attitude, their age ranges 6-7 years old. There are 27 boys and 18 girls both are without drop outs, for a total of 45 students enrolled in the section.. In the classroom, they are active and very attentive in listening to the teachers’ discussion. So far, they need a continuous manifestations and manipulations of manners and characteristics, their behavior swings in a single period most of the time but in terms of work, they can do things without any help of a teacher now, they doesn’t need a guide in their writing ability. Their span of attention is definitely short 4% of 10 maybe, because they are easily attracted on many disturbances and things. In terms of concentration, yes, they are concentrating but often talks to their seatmates while writing.

SECOND OBSERVATION
There is an exact area in the classroom for specific purposes; also they have rules and procedures posted in the room. As I’ve observed, the students obey the rules in their classroom because the teacher is authoritative enough to implement the rules in their classroom. Most of the time, the teacher let the students recite their prayer before they begin the class discussion, then followed by checking of their assignments and proceed to the different subject discussions. In their class, their seating arrangement is girl-boy-girl and not by alphabet, also as the teacher said that the arrangement helps the students to avoid talking with their seatmates. The noise level in the classroom is just minimal that it couldn’t bring distraction in the classroom discussion. When someone is not listening to the discussion, the teacher would high her pitch of voice to caught attention of everyone and therefore the students would attentively listen to her but then again after she high her voice she then calm and continue the discussion so well.

YOUR ANALYSIS

1.    As a conditioned stimuli, the students/children being responsible and know what happen during the session. They talked and greet the teacher then proceed doing their jobs/task.
2.    The teacher should have in mind the inspiring and educational quotations in their walls, the English alphabet, counting numbers and many educational pictures that might help a child to think and ask a lot of things.
3.    The behavior strategies that were effective in managing the behavior of the learner’s and in motivating students are being active, jolly in all times, pleasing personality, and show a smile always, it is effective in the behavior of the learners because most of the time, they looked upon a teacher as their good role model and influence them to be mindful and active also in the class.

YOUR REFLECTIONS
1.    I would love to be in Grade 1 level because I wanted to be the one who mold the child to be ready in the next step of their education. I want to be part of the learning processes and improvement of the child. If I were to do on routines, I would start with a prayer before anything else in the classroom, then a simple checking of attendance for monitoring and checking of the assignments before proceeding to the discussion proper because it would manifest on the motivational improvement of the child.
2.    Rules to Implement in my classroom:
/ Make the classroom neat and clean (no throwing of garbage everywhere).
/ No talking if the teacher is discussing or talking.
/ Listening is a must
/ Make friends and cooperation in the classroom activities.
I choose all these rules because it would help discipline and make a good product of children in spite of many differences among children/student.
3.    Yes, learners must be part in making the class rules because it is a mutual interaction between the teacher and student relationship. Generally, students are part of the classroom body so; they must take part of the decision making in the classroom.

EPISODE 4: Individual Differences and Learner’s Interaction
OBSERVATION REPORT
During the class, most of the time 75% of the students were very participative and interact with the teachers; they tend to ask questions and answer a question. Mostly are from the row 1. 40% in row 1 that is participating, 20% in row 2, 10% in row 3 and 5% in row 4. The front seaters are more active in class discussion while the back seaters are those small duration of time will talk and play with their seatmates. In the classroom that I’ve been observing, I couldn’t see competition among the students because they aren’t after of the grades but instead they are after of the learning processes that they could get.
When a student cannot answer the question of the teacher, someone from the class would raise their hands to be recognized and given a chance to answer. After the class, most of them group according to their gender, and also to their religion, and there are also groupings of hetero because they get along with each other. They often talks of the movies they watched last night, games, foods and snacks.

YOUR ANALYSIS

Yes, there are persons who play key roles in the relationships and interactions in the classroom. Some of them plays the role of an entertainer, attention seeker, models and most of all many of them plays the role of an audience who only observes the whole time. As they get along with each other, they never discourage and reject anyone nor practice the bad treatment with their classmate such as bullying and discriminations. They accept each other even they have different practices and religions.
The teachers manipulate and regulate, asking questions by using multilingual or simple mother tongue to convey messages that everyone could understand and she never used negative thoughts or ideas that could affect the learning process of the students and she treat the students equally in spite of their diverse cultures.
Some factors that influence the grouping of learners outside the classroom is that the social races, gender, age and the same mind set and views.

YOUR REFLECTIONS

I felt so welcome and great because everyone in the classroom treat me as a part of the class, the teacher is always acknowledging my presence and in fact the students recognizes me as their teacher also.
In the future, I want the learners in my classroom to interact as being acknowledge and give chance to explain their opinions and ideas about a certain discussions. I use an interactive activity such role playing, declamations, story-telling and many more.
I will encourage all learners regardless of religions, ethnic or racial background to interact and participate in the discussions by telling them that their ideas and opinions is highly valued and accepted whether it is wrong or right.

EPISODE 5: Individual Differences and Learner’s Interaction

YOUR ANALYSIS

Yes, my observation matches the information given by the teacher and definitely I correctly identify who among the students performed well and who did not. The behavior helped me identify them is that being participative and responding to teacher’s discussion.
Technically, they really have a wide gap because in terms of writing, those performing well would easily write while those who aren’t is always get distracted by the disturbances around them and through the information that the teacher gave me, it relates as the family backgrounds and problems.
The method use by the teacher, in handling the student’s differences in abilities is guiding and facilitating her/him. The structure responds to the teacher by freely asking and questioning ideas to the teacher.

YOUR REFLECTION

With the principal of individual differences in mind, the methods and strategies will remember in the future to ensure that I will be able to meet the needs of both are high and low achievers in a class, is that analyzing them get a total range of it.

YOUR ANALYSIS
1.    Disciplinary style of parenting, through the data that I gathered, the teaching and ways of disciplining his child, she made consequences, rules and punishments and advices to his child.
2.    Relating my data with what I’ve learned from child development, the family factors that contribute to the development and over-all adjustment of the learner in school is that the nurturing and disciplining the child since it is the stage of manifestations of attitude.
3.    Yes, the communication between the home-school has an effect on the learner because the discipline, values and good nurturing of a child starts in our home. The effects are that, a child would obey the teacher, listen to the discussion and he do things he need to do before playing.

YOUR REFLECTION

2.    As a future teacher, I would establish good home-school collaboration by dealing with their parents and has motivational discussion about the child’s activity in school. I could help them by giving mutual advices about the activities of the child in school.
